How to Find Winning Products to Dropship on Your Store

Here's an answer to a problem that every single newcomer into the dropshipping game has - "How do I find a winning product to dropship?".

If you have a winning product, that’s a huge portion of the battle won right there.

You could do all the tactical selling you want, but if you have a product that people just don’t want, you won’t sell nearly as much.

Now, I’m going to preface this with the fact that you need to test many different products. You can and should use these strategies I’m about to give you, but you will then have to test these products that you find.

You can’t just expect to put something up and have it sell. This takes a long time, and that’s where a lot of people fail.

Anyway, on to the first strategy.

Main AliExpress Research Strategy

Now, this one is pretty obvious, as it’s simply just searching through Aliexpress.

Aliexpress is where most, if not all dropshippers source their products from, as it’s such a huge diverse website with many different kinds of products.

Here’s the strategy that I use to find my products.

First, I need to think about what it is that I want to sell. What’s my niche, and what’s a nice idea for an item within that niche?

I’ve mentioned this before, so I’m going to stick with this niche for a lot of my examples - nursing.

So first thing’s first, I’m going to want to type in simply nursing into the search bar. Now, the best thing to do from here is refine searches by “orders”, which will put the most popular items at the top.

These items can be the most popular because they’re dropshipped a lot, very popular among normal shoppers, or a good mix of both.

You can check and see if this item is dropshipped by going down into the customer order details. When the same name and flag appears several times in a row, there's a good chance that's a dropshipper.

If it is being dropshipped consistently, then it is pretty safe to jump in on this trend too because it proves that it sells well.

If it isn’t being dropshipped, that doesn’t mean that it won’t sell, it just means you’re early in the game.

Generally, the items at the top when ranked by orders are very popular for a good reason, such as their quality and style.

Also, if they’re at the top, that shows that people are interested in the product, so that’s a little bit of unease going away.

My Rarely-Used AliExpress Research Tactic

Now, if you want to get a little wild and stand out from the crowd with some unique items, you can get a few pages into the items to items that only have a few orders.

Just because they have a few orders does not mean that they are bad items.

What it does mean is that you have to do a bit more research. How is the item construction? Are there any reviews at all that can give you a feel for the quality?

Probably the most important, though, is how is the manufacturer in general? Do they have good ratings, lots of transactions, and at least a few items with a lot of orders?

If they do, that means that they most likely make good items and it should be safe to get this new item.

Alright, great, you’ve mastered AliExpress. What if you don’t want to put in that much work to finding an item?

You can do this great trick with google to find competitor stores in your niche and see what they’re selling.

Before I get further, a quick strategy that you can use is to go on AliExpress and find a product.

Then, go into the product pictures, right-click on a picture, and search google for the image through the "reverse image search" function.

If anyone is selling this product on their site and using the default pictures, it’ll come up. This is a great way to find competition.

Additionally, head up to your google search bar. Type in “site:myshopify.com ‘niche’” with whatever niche you’re selling in replacing the word niche.

Once you do that, numerous Shopify stores will pop up that should be in your niche. Then, once you’re on their site, have a look around.

See what products they’re selling and how they’re selling them. Copy them as you wish.

Something else you can do whilst on their site is adding “/collections/all?sort_by=best-selling” to the end of their URL.

If they haven’t disabled this feature on their Shopify store, you should be able to see their most popular items, which will give you a really good idea about what’s popular.

​Finally, a quick thing that you can do is utilize Instagram influencers.

In case you aren’t aware, there are very popular Instagrammers in nearly every niche you can think of.

What people do is pay these influencers to showcase their products, and dropshippers utilize this method frequently.

So, you can utilize one of the several platforms available to find an influencer in your niche, or you can just head on over to Instagram, search for your niche, and see what comes up.

This won’t always work for every niche, as some can be hard to find an influencer that covers that general area, but it can work great for a lot of people.

Once you find an influencer, head over to their page and look through their posts.

Most likely, you’ll find some sponsored posts in there with either products or competitor’s social media pages, which you can snoop on and copy.

I have used this personally in my niche and it’s worked great, so I know it’ll work for a lot of other people as well.

Now, this is barely scraping the surface of the entire product searching and research process.

However, by making this the baseline of your product search, you'll have a much higher chance of finding a winner and reaching success with eCommerce.
